Gay Atlanta? Is Atlanta a gay friendly place to move? Is it safe to raise guyren there? Are there cultural events? Would you live in Florida or Atlanta, if given the choice? |
My partner and I live in Atlanta, and absolutely love it. ( We both grew up here, and know how the south can be)
Even as you get farther out, there is a strong "family" presence. We live in Tucker, which is just outside of Decatur ( Also known as Dick-Hater due to the high density of the lesbian population.)
We hold hands anywhere we go( except my family's church) and never even get a second glance.
The Southern Voice is the GLBT newspaper here, which is also pretty good.
There isn't an absence of nightlife, either.
Once you get out of about 60 miles out of hte city, the attitude changes, but there have been a lot of positive events within the city and Fulton and DeKalb counties, including not allowing discrimintation based on Sexual Orientation. . .
Hope that this helps! |
Which city is better for gay people, Atlanta, GA or Houston, TX? I am trying to decide which college I want to go to. Either Emory or Rice. Both are very good and near equal and both send a high percentage to medical school. Rice has slightly better dorms and is smaller
From what I hear, Atlanta is more gay friendly, but I assume Houston is also since they are both large, metro areas.
Also just in general, how are the two cities?
Which do you prefer? |
| Atlanta, Georgia ia a better area for homosexuals from what my friends tell me. It is also very common to see gay couples walking around together being passionate. I hope that helps you. |
Where can I find a good rave club in Atlanta? Some techno music. Or a gay bar in Atlanta? I'm looking for some fun techno nightclubs in Atlanta. Or a Rave. Or a gay bar. Or all 3! thanks! |
Opera ... it is in Midtown off Crescent. MJQ is underground...it is on Ponce. Gay clubs? Wow - Heretic if you want to be the only woman there. Do raves still exist? If they do...go to Satellite in Little Five Points - they are sure to have flyers in their record store letting you know when the next warehouse throwdown is.
Have fun! |
Where can a 40 year old gay woman meet other gay women in Atlanta? Looking for over 40 single gay women in Atlanta. I keep falling for straight women.Doesn't work out too well.If you are out there email me with info about you. My address is slsbiz8@yahoo.com |
| Try the Bulldog Club in downtown Atlanta. Or My Sister's Room in Decatur. |
Do you know of any gay bars around atlanta that you think might like a female bartender? I like to tend bar. I think it would be fun to work in a gay club and bartend! Know of any hopping joints that would be able to use a female bartender? |
| try the atl section, honestly, not many in here are from there. (not saying who, but one person messaged me and asked what atl was and what state it was in.... i felt kinda bad so i went and edited my answer, lol) |
Why can't I find a gay woman in Atlanta over 35? Where is a good place to meet gay women in Atlanta that are 35 and over? Bars? Classes? Restaurants? Groups? I live in Marietta. Looking for lipstick lesbians. Just my preference. Not into bi's or bi curious. Just looking for friends to hang with. |
| I live outside of Atlanta and I have encountered many older women who were lesbians that lived in Stone Mountain, Lithonia, Decatur, or Atlanta, but unfortunately they were mostly butch. I think there are many lipstick lesbians out there, they're just well hidden. Lipstick lesbians blend in better than, for example, a gay man. I would have to say rely heavily on your "gaydar" when your out in clubs/bars. You may also want to try online groups or like someone else suggested use CraigsList.org Post a listing saying that you're looking for some friends. I'm sure you'll find great people or places. |
How can i make new gay friends Atlanta? I really don't have a problem meeting people but I am at a point where I want more gay friends who aren't so stereotypical. I make straight friends all the time but am not at the point where I let people know about me. So i tend to keep my distance from them. I am not in love with Beyonce (as so many guys are) and just a average guy. I go to a small Technical school for now so not really an opportunity to meet people there. And have a few more months before i can OFFICIALLY go to bars but not into the club scene. |
Go downtown near the underground and olympic park and yell I'm gay and need new gay friends that arent stereotypically gay. Within 10 secs about 70 gay people will be standing around you. Now this is when you weed out the people that dont know what stereotypical means, then weed out the crazies. You should have at least 20 people remaining and there you go instant friends.
I lived in atlanta for about a year. It always seemed as though there werent any straight people at all lol. |
Can someone tell me what are some good black gay clubs in Atlanta? I've been to a few mixed crowd ones and they were great but somehow not raunchy enough. |
Here is a list of Atlanta's gay bars:

What are the best gay clubs to go to in Atlanta, Savannah, Columbia, and Charlotte? Im going on a trip to Charlotte, NC- Atlanta, GA- Columbia, SC- Savannah, GA, in June and July of this year what are some gay clubs and attraction that's must see. |
I have no idea,.
You may google that... ?
I personally use chatrooms to meet people wherever I travel, and where I live. |
Why is there so many gay men in Atlanta? is there such a thing as a straight man there?
gays are just everywhere, they are everywhere! I've never seen anything like it... I mean in philly, maryland, florida I see gays BUT not as many as I do in atlanta?! |
| Hum, one more reason not to live in Atlanta. Thanks for the 4-1-1 |
